It is the first ever down jacket made by 5.11.

When 5.11 said this jacket was packable they were not joking one bit. The above image shows the whole 5.11 Acadia Down Jacket stowed in it’s own stuff sack for easy carry. Below is a picture of the stuff sack bag that is attached inside of the right hand warmer pocket opened up for viewing.

If you want to be warm in the winter a quality down jacket in unsurpassed for that. 5.11 has certainly made a very warm one that I discovered in testing really traps in the heat. The extra tough ripstop fabric outer has a durable water repellent finish sheds light rain, sleet and snow with ease.
Every good winter jacket needs a warm hood to keep the precious heat you lose from your head close to your body. The 5.11 Acadia Down Jacket has a great super warm hood that does not have drawstrings to get caught in your gear but the elastic keeps the hood close around your face. The back of the coat is longer to help cover your buns when the winds are howling.

I am a huge fan of zippered pockets. Carry your phone in the internal zipper pocket that features a media port. If I put something in my pocket I certainly don’t want to lose it. Also, zippered pockets seal out all debris you might encounter whether running through the wilds or out in town.

The great folks at 5.11 have certainly one upped their own game with this great new down jacket. Check out the seal around the face and neck area when the hood is used.

In summary of this review I can honestly state the 5.11 Acadia Down Jacket is a great addition to your every day carry (EDC) for both on and off the pavement. I certainly recommend it. Be sure to check it out and all of the other great 5.11 products on their website.
