In the worst case scenario food is all around you in the forest.
The key is knowing the very trees around you can supply it.
Witness how tree bark can be an emergency ration for a dire situation.
YouTuber The Outsider shared a video on how to eat tree bark. No really, it’s actually the living cambium layer just under the rough bark. In a wilderness survival situation it might be the only sustenance you have.
While Native Americans in times past survived in bleak times on “bark” their stomachs were more accustomed to this heavy organic fiber diet. Our modern stomachs are certainly not tough like theirs was and I would recommend only eating bark in a true survival situation in small quantities.
The video goes into great detail on what tree species to use and the ways of harvesting and preparing it. There is also a word of warning that the tree will probably die afterwards. Only use this method in extreme circumstances and also utilize the rest of the tree too. Protect our natural resources as they are truly renewable when respected correctly.
